Consciousness Is The Only Reality
“Absorb these words deeply. They aren’t mine; they come from inspired individuals who discovered that consciousness is the true essence of reality. If I feel pain, I’m the cause. If my world is gloomy, I created that gloom, that despair. If there’s brightness and joy, I created that brightness and joy.” – Neville Goddard
The law of assumption tells us that whatever you believe is true, already exists and will manifest in your life. Based on the quote above, it’s evident this applies to both positive and negative aspects.
So, how can you use your imagination to achieve your dreams, improve your well-being, and live the life you’ve always desired?
Understanding The Law Of Assumption

“Deliberate imagination, envisioning the end result, is the start of all miracles.” – Neville Goddard
The law of assumption states that what you believe to be true becomes your reality. Your consciousness shapes the world around you.
If this idea seems far-fetched, consider that you’ve been using the law of assumption throughout your life. Our assumptions shape our reality, often without us realizing it.
People hold assumptions about themselves, others, and the world in their subconscious minds. These assumptions create our experiences. Think of a time when one of your beliefs influenced your reality. Everyone has an example of this.
For instance, if you ever entered a job interview believing you wouldn’t get the job, you probably didn’t. If you went in truly believing the job was already yours, you likely got it. This is how your outer reality mirrors your inner assumptions.
You don’t necessarily have to sit down and deliberately decide what to create, but you can. This is the best part of the law of assumption – once you understand it, you can shape your reality into anything you desire.
How The Law Of Assumption Works

How can your imagination shape your reality? If you believe that nothing exists outside of your consciousness, then it follows that you can create anything you want consciously.
To do this, two things are essential: believing that what you want is already true and maintaining the feelings of your fulfilled desire until it manifests.
Universal Law
“You can’t see imagination; you see the results of imagination.” – Neville Goddard
The law of assumption is a universal law that is always at work. Whether you apply it consciously or unconsciously, it impacts your life.
When you use it consciously, you guide your life with the feelings of your fulfilled desires. When you use it unconsciously, you react to the external world and let negative assumptions control your life.
The law of assumption is always active, and you are its operator. Your imagination is constantly creating the world around you. Knowing this allows you to use it consciously to shape your reality.
Don’t confuse the term ‘assumption’ with uncertainty. Perhaps it’s easier to grasp the core idea when we consider the meaning of the word: something accepted as true without requiring proof.
This means you must believe what you want is true and not doubt it. Such faith is the key to manifesting using the law of assumption.
The Power of Feelings
“A shift in feeling is a shift in destiny.” – Neville Goddard
If there were no limits to what you could have, what would you create? Be honest about your deepest desire.
Don’t adjust your desire based on others’ opinions or your own beliefs about what you deserve. Imagine it’s possible and that you already have it.
How does possessing exactly what you wanted feel? Try to experience this feeling of your wish being fulfilled as deeply as possible. Immerse yourself and become the person who achieved their desire.
Once you grasp how having what you want feels, how do you act? What’s your life like? How do you behave? What do you do?
Imagine sharing it with others and maintain these conversations until they feel natural. When the feeling of your fulfilled desire becomes natural, it takes on a sense of reality. This is what you’re aiming for.
Once the feeling of your fulfilled desire is real, focus on this feeling as much as possible. Now the law of assumption can do its work.
Manifesting Using The Law Of Assumption

“When someone unlocks the mystery of imagination, they will have discovered the secret of creation, and that is: imagination creates reality. Therefore, the person who knows what they are imagining knows what they are creating; realizes that the events of life are imagined — not physical.” – Neville Goddard
Manifesting using the law of assumption involves imagining your desire, feeling with absolute certainty that it’s true, and then imagining an event you’ll experience once your wish is fulfilled.
This is the basic process: for more details, refer to examples and techniques based on the law of assumption.
1.### Know Exactly What You Want
Be Clear About Your Desires
What do you truly want today that you’ll also want tomorrow?
You can only start to make things happen once you clearly define what you want and acknowledge it to yourself.
• Dream big. Let your imagination aim for the ultimate goal, your heart’s deepest desire in an area of your life, not just an intermediate step.
• Don’t settle for partial goals or means to an end. For instance, focus on being in a fulfilling relationship instead of just going on a date if a committed partnership is your ultimate goal.
• Stay true to yourself. Leave past beliefs behind. Nothing is impossible, so focus only on positive thoughts. Don’t let others influence your dreams.
2. Envision the Outcome
Picture a scene that would take place after achieving your desire. Make sure it’s something you’re actively part of, not just watching.
Your goal is to believe that your desired reality is already true and you’re living it. Keep it brief and focused, and include as many sensory details as possible.
For example, imagine receiving a warm kiss from your partner when they return home from work. This scene implies that your wish of living together, whether with someone new or someone specific, has come true.
If your ultimate goal is to be happily married to your soulmate, visualize a short moment like this that confirms your wish has been fulfilled. You’re seeking something that evokes the feeling of your wish being realized.
3. Experience the Satisfaction
Next, relax and imagine in your mind how it feels when your desire is a reality and you’re living the life you want.
Relax and pretend you’re doing the action you would do in reality if your goal is achieved.
Neville Goddard suggests stilling your physical body and entering a state similar to sleep. This meditative state is between consciousness and unconsciousness. It’s the drowsy feeling right before you fall asleep, where you could either wake up or drift off.
Mentally experience doing the action you imagined – in our example, kissing your partner hello. Visualizing helps you focus on the end goal – your desire being fulfilled – so imagine just this one action and repeat. Then imagine it again and again until it feels real.
4. Believe Your Wish is Real
Continue until you fall asleep or until it feels like reality. Repeat this one action in your imagination until it feels real and you forget you’re imagining it.
Be persistent – the feeling that it’s real will come if you stick with it long enough. Giving up too soon won’t work.
Ignore all evidence to the contrary. These ‘facts’ are just remnants of past assumptions and will soon vanish. You must believe you already have what you want, and reality will follow.
Experience a new mindset: inner dialogues that support your desire and change your habitual thinking. Replace negative thoughts with a positive outlook.
5. Be Patient
It’s crucial not to give up too quickly. Your inner state is reflected in the outside world, and you’ve been unconsciously shaping it with negative assumptions. Using positive thinking and affirmations, you can change this.
However, it takes time to genuinely believe everything you want has already happened. Keep trying and working on manifesting your desire. Be persistent and don’t give up on your new beliefs, and the world will adjust to fit them.

Where Does The Law Of Assumption Come From?

The law of assumption is based on the teachings of Neville Goddard.
Neville Lancelot Goddard was born in 1905 and died in 1972. As a young man, he moved to the United States to study drama and became a dancer.
While touring with his dance company, he grew interested in metaphysics and decided to quit dancing to focus on spiritual matters.
Goddard learned about the power of imagination from his mentor Abdullah, who taught him about the Kabbalah and hidden meanings in the Scripture.
Goddard became a lecturer on the Law of Assumption during the 1950s and ‘60s and wrote several books, including Feeling Is the Secret, The Power of Awareness, Your Faith Is Your Fortune, and others.
All of Goddard’s works are in the public domain and available for free. This includes his books and transcripts of his lectures.
What Is The Difference Between Law Of Attraction And Law Of Assumption?
“It is not what you want that you attract; you attract what you believe to be true.” – Neville Goddard
Manifesting is the act of bringing something into existence. It isn’t about making the Universe give you something or convincing yourself that something is true.
You’re already manifesting your life every day, so when you realize that you control what it’s like, you can start changing it to what you desire.
The law of attraction is one of the most popular approaches to manifesting, but how is it different from the law of assumption?
What is the law of attraction?
The law of attraction is based on the principle of “like attracts like.” It states that positive thoughts draw positive experiences into your life, helping you change limiting beliefs and negative thinking.
You attract what you want through vibrational energy. Using positive thoughts and feelings, you raise your energy to match your desires. This inspires action and sends your wishes out into the world.
What is the law of assumption?
The law of assumption helps you manifest your desires by believing they’re already real. Nothing exists beyond your consciousness, so changing your assumptions will make them reality.
While the law of attraction is about consciously attracting good things and doing what it takes to get them, the law of assumption works under the premise that your desires are already true and you don’t need to take specific action to make it happen.
What Does ‘Everyone Is You Pushed Out’ Mean?

“The world you see is a mirror of your own consciousness. Every person and thing you perceive, though they appear external, actually reside within your incredible human imagination, which is the true origin of the world.” – Neville Goddard
The phrase ‘Everyone is you pushed out’ can be misunderstood, but it essentially means that people and their actions are reflections of your beliefs.
For example, if you’re in a bad mood, you might encounter individuals who seem to irritate you. If you believe your manager doesn’t like you, their behavior and assignments might reinforce that belief.
Whatever your convictions, the world and people echo them back. Your beliefs are mirrored in others, and you experience what you believe to be true. Your beliefs shape your entire reality, influencing everything around you.
Your beliefs about yourself and the world create your reality – they shape everything you encounter. We hold countless assumptions that we aren’t even aware of, and these impact our lives. People act according to the beliefs you hold about them.
What Is ‘Self-Concept’?
“The way you perceive yourself is your most crucial perspective. Your potential is far greater than you realize.” – Neville Goddard
Your self-concept represents the beliefs you hold about yourself – it’s who you believe you are. It’s the identity you’ve accepted to meet others’ expectations. This is how you see and define yourself.
You’ve agreed to fit into a certain mold, and your mind constantly provides evidence to support this. For example, if you believe you’re lazy, your mind will continually prove it.
Essentially, your self-concept is the identity you’ve accepted and made real. To change it, you need to let go of these beliefs. If you no longer agree with them, they can’t persist.
A low self-concept centers around insecurities and self-imposed limitations. A high self-concept is about self-confidence and believing in endless possibilities.
Self-concept is vital because it shapes not only how you view yourself but also your perception of the world. If you believe you’re unlikable, you’ll think others dislike you. If you believe you’re successful, you’ll see others respecting you.
How to Achieve High Self-Concept?
How can you stop believing in others’ judgments, limitations, and negative self-talk? your life echoes your beliefs, so stop entertaining harmful thoughts like feeling unlovable, ugly, or clumsy. Replace these old beliefs with new ones.
You get to choose who you want to be. Others’ opinions don’t define you. Embrace your true self and believe in its reality.
Use affirmations to solidify this new self-concept. Declare who you are, believe it, and watch it become reality. Consistently counter every negative thought with a positive one.
For instance, if you believe you’re unattractive, start affirming you’re attractive. Use supportive thoughts. Be steadfast and patient, and reality will align with your new beliefs.

What Does It Mean To Affirm The Law Of Assumption?

Affirming the law of assumption involves using affirmations to shift your mindset and transform your beliefs into those that align with your desires.
The law of assumption says that your reality is shaped by what you believe to be true. But what if your beliefs are negative? You might acknowledge them as harmful, yet still cling to them.
Affirmations are a powerful tool for altering your thoughts. Consistent thoughts turn into beliefs, and beliefs become reality. That’s why affirmations are effective – they reinforce positive thoughts.
How to Affirm the Law of Assumption
At first, affirmations might feel silly or trivial. But if you genuinely want change and commit to believing them, you’ll succeed. Make a deliberate effort to use affirmations to remind yourself of your goals.
For example, if you assume you’ll never find love, you won’t. You desire it but believe it’s impossible. This negative assumption—a desire coupled with disbelief—becomes your reality. Instead, claim your desire confidently and start believing it’s true.
To change your mindset, use daily affirmations like “I am worthy of love”. This thought will develop into a belief, and once you believe it, it will manifest.
Imagination Creates Your Reality

Based on American philosopher Neville Lancelot Goddard’s teachings, the law of assumption is a powerful tool for manifesting your dreams. The concept is both simple and effective.
The tricky part is identifying and replacing your accepted beliefs and assumptions with more empowering ones.
The idea that your assumptions shape your reality is generally accepted. No one succeeds or fails purely based on believing they can or can’t do something.
Even if you don’t wholly believe it, the positive thinking encouraged by the law of assumption can transform your life.
